About the course builder: Stefan Wirth
- International Course Designer Technical Delegate Jumping.
- Chef d‘Equipe at World Equestrian Games, Pan American Games, Central American and Caribbean Games.
“Course design is one of the most important tasks in the organisation of jumping shows. Good course design helps to develop the sport and is an important part of athletes’ and horses’ education.
The course designer has a responsibility towards athletes and horses but also towards spectators, audiences, sponsors and staff.”

GROOMS FACILITIES:
Your staff and their comfort while at the show is important to us! We have allocated sufficient ablution facilities in the complex on the left of the main driveway entrance to the club (the Rugby ablutions) and down at the stables.
Grooms will have full access to these facilities for the duration of your stay with us.
At the rugby block there are 13 showers and 12 toilets so they should be able to cope and ensure enough hot water etc. for all.
We ask that the grooms take care not to flush unwanted items down the toilets (toilet paper will be provided, but it is always a good idea to supply your staff with toilet paper to bring with them in case they find none available).
There are also ablutions based at the original show stable block as well as at the daily horse box parking area. A shower and toilet at this ablution has been allocated for women.
WATER:
Our borehole has more than enough water, but we do ask you to take care to not leave taps running (please make sure your grooms are conscious of this need to be “waterwise”). As a precaution, we have installed Jo-Jo tanks in various positions around the stable areas for emergencies. Please do not use these unless there is a general water cut off in the area. In this case you and your staff will be notified. The risk here is less about running out of water, but more about power issues that may affect the borehole pumps.
POWER:
Power unfortunately is a problem in the Summerveld area, so we ask that you only use power for your floats and horse boxes, when necessary , please do not leave the power on all day and night. Transformers do blow and we will restore power with our backup generators as soon as we can.
SECURITY:
We do have guards patrolling the premises but ask you to be aware and take care of all your belongings. Highway Shows and The Shongweni Club will not be held liable for any loss, damage, injury or death to any person, animal, or property due to any cause whatsoever.
OUT OF BOUNDS:
The grass fields (Rugby and Polocrosse) are strictly out of bounds to any un-authorized vehicles. There will be demarcated parking areas for small floats and horse boxes. Please adhere to you allotted parking space to make the experience enjoyable for all competitors. Safety and security are of utmost importance to us and parking in areas not designated for this purpose could result in you possibly blocking and emergency exit or an access pint required for the smooth running of the event. Please assist us by adhering to all signs and requests in this regard from Club staff. We will do our best to ensure there are enough signs and / or marshals on arrival to assist you!
